Edward Ronald Le Sauteur (1900-1977) was the
only child of Edward Philip Jutson Le Sauteur and was educated at the
Jersey Modern School in La Colomberie. He was a good violonist and as
a youth won prizes for violin playing at the Jersey Eisteddfod. As a
youth, he joined the firm of James Martland & Co Ltd, then on the
Esplanade, where he remained nearly all his life, until the firm
closed down after a series of disastrous fires. He then joined Marks
& Riches Ltd Merchants on the Esplanade until his age retirement
and then continued in a part time capacity almost until his death. He
was closely associated with St. Luke's Church, Georgetown, for his
entire life, from choir boy to Churchwarden. In spite of his Town
up-bringing, he spoke jèrriais very fluently.
